FACT - logo only jpegIn 2005, at the age of 34, Joanne Smith was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I was celebrating my daughter Molly’s second birthday on the day the doctors told me, and my son was only 7 years old at the time.  My life was turned upside down.

Towards the end of my four years of treatment, I set up FACT Cancer Support, a charity to support North East families affected by all types of cancer. FACT provides information, support and social opportunities for patients and their loved ones going through the cancer journey. It also provides education and awareness programmes, including reconstruction advice evenings for women with breast cancer. “
